COMME des GARÇONS SHIRT AW1995 Striped Pyjama Shirt
From the same season as COMME des GARÇONS HOMME PLUS’ infamous AW1995 “Sleep” collection
No doubt a nod to the striped pyjama-like loungewear that featured in the Homme Plus show
The collection garnered lots of negative press with the men’s pyjamas viewed as controversially referencing concentration camp uniform
When asked about the show, Rei Kawakubo explained that the theme was "sleep" and "the meaning is there is no meaning." However, the show was interpreted quite differently and widespread controversy ensued...
As a gesture of conciliation, Kawakubo withdrew the pyjamas from the line.
