Raf Simons AW2016 Scattered Letter T-Shirt

Raf Simons’ Autumn/Winter 2016 collection was titled, “Nightmares and Dreams.”

Fresh from leaving Dior, Simons’ focal point for the season was time; and the collection took its inspiration from a look back through 20 years of Simons’ own archives.

A dramatic runway featured memory laden garments with scattered letters. Oversized sweaters had Margiela-inspired distressing, while coats and puffy down jackets dwarfed the models. The colouring felt youthful and appeared almost varsity-inspired. Each piece had its own story to tell.

This black t-shirt features a scattered letter “R”, that could be forgiven for being a submark. Embroidered in a piercing aqua blue, the deliberately random R seemingly represents a memory or a thought…left dangling. Made from lightweight cotton, it has a slim fit compared to the oversized proportions of other pieces from the collection.

Made in Italy.
