PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

Almost from inception, Moschino has been renowned for its blending of satire and couture. The Spring/Summer 1998 - designed by Franco Moschino’s long-term collaborator and assistant, Rossella Jardini - however, was quite subdued. Blacks featured heavily, with formal looks and tailoring mixed with the occasional statement-maker that came in the form of a Concord plane graphic on dresses and skirts, a sequin “?” dress and a blazer with a no-smoking sign on the back.

Made of a wool/cotton blend, this skirt - that can just as easily be worn as a bandeau top - has an air of typically-Moschino satire. Hints of playfulness emerge from the dramatic full-zip closure down the centre front, while two further zippers on either side are joined by a central seam that gives the impression of a flap - akin to a peephole. The cheekiness, however, is just for show as the zips don’t continue along the horizontal seam, instead, only unzipping vertically to provide front pockets.

Each zip features a distinctly oversized circular silver pull tab that pops against the subdued black base. These featured prominently on the runway on a vast array of garments and leathers, and continued to models’ earrings that were also similarly shaped big round hoops.
