PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

Since founding his label in 1983, Franco Moschino employed ironic self-awareness, well-crafted parody, sincere humour, and thoughtful juxtapositions throughout his designs. He ridiculed the industry’s hierarchies by parodying emblems of high culture, like the Chanel dinner suit, and crafting them with low brow materials like denim, or adorning them with real silverware. On the other side of the coin, he saw the potential collision of high and low with Bohemian garb as fashionable long before its resurgence in the 2000s and beyond.

Drawing from this notion, this piece hails from Spring / Summer 1996 - a collection that focused heavily on ‘Boho Chic’. With an elasticated bandeau top seam, it can be worn either as a tube top or as a skirt. Multicoloured floral patterns are embroidered throughout, lined with black beading and perforated at the centre with top stitching often left unfinished. Rounded cutouts at the base give this versatile piece a slight peplum when worn.
