PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

Moschino’s Spring/Summer 1994 collection proved to be a significant one as it marked the final collection overseen by founder, Franco Moschino prior to his death later that same year.

In his short 10 years at the helm, Moschino was able to add his own unique spin on high fashion, fusing humour and couture to create satirically-charged designs that were often a commentary on not just fashion, but the world at large. His final collection was an amalgam of everything he did best, combining the elegant and the artisanal with the satirical and the though-provoking.

Like its creator, this tie is bold and ironic. Constructed of a shiny gold silk that featured across several runway looks, it is brimming with slogans that line the blade in black text. Peeling off the Moschino logo are dates and days of the week, along with “TIES TIES TIES” repeated to dramatic effect, followed by a cut off slogan that seems to continue the sentence “…have lost their original purposes”. The convex shaped messages are completed with “love and peace and love and peace,” two buzz words for the visionary Franco.

Ties have been a mainstay across Moschino runways since its inception - a theme continued by current creative director, Jeremy Scott, who recently featured oversized ties in his SS2019 collection.
