Moschino AW2001 Made To Measure Shirt
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
Moschino’s Autumn/Winter 2001 collection was a signature display of sarcastic humour. Where other designers were obsessing over masculine and feminine roles, Moschino took a far less serious stance, poking fun at the very core of stereotypical gender roles.
Housewives had just slipped out of bed, still wearing their sleeping masks and matching pyjamas, while men appeared to have just left the tailor in a hurry on the way to a business meeting, measuring tape and pins still attached to their deconstructed, gangster-like suits.
That same motif made its way onto this lightweight short sleeve shirt. As practical as it is satirical, the graphic provides an accurate centimetre measurement for when you forgot your actual measuring tape at home! ‘Moschino Jeans’ is printed to the graphic and buttons, while the collar features a subtle polka dot print.
For AW2015, and again in SS2019, Jeremy Scott revisited the measuring tape theme in the form of dresses and accessories.
