PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

Maison Martin Margiela credited 1970s San Francisco as inspiration for its SS2007 men’s collection. Models were presented in muted colours wearing t-shirts with overt slogans such as “My Grass is Blue”, or leather jackets with studs covering the back. It culminated into a body of work that was reminiscent of 70’s Boho Beat culture, where Margiela’s men were wandering artists and musicians.

These classic brown pleated trousers were included in Look 5 of the SS07 lookbook. They are constructed from a lightweight wool and feature a subtle reflective blue lustre that can be observed when worn in the light. A hidden elastic band on the inside of the waist accommodates loosening for larger sizes, or simply for added comfort during wear. As is typical of many of Margiela’s men’s trousers, they are fastened by a brass clasp at the waist. These are an excellent, though understated example of Margiela’s ability to deconstruct and evolve a classic garment into something special.
