Kenzo Homme SS1994 Floral Painter Shirt
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
Floral patterns were a significant motif throughout much of Kenzo Takada’s career. In 1970, he opened his first boutique in Paris, Jungle Jap, and painted the walls himself with a floral jungle motif inspired by French Post-Impressionist painter Henri Rousseau. The abstract botanical scenes would also go on to inform Kenzo’s design aesthetic - a sleek combination of bold prints in tandem with Japanese silhouettes and fabrics was optimistic, carefree, and revolutionary.
Kenzo introduced his Homme line in 1983, and took his contagious optimism to men for the first time. This shirt, produced for Spring/Summer 1994, evokes all of those distinct Kenzo adages. It’s floral pattern in pastel greens and blues, which has a subtle painterly quality, is both bold and understated. With a typically relaxed and boxy cut, a camp collar, and two front pockets at the waist, the shirt is as carefree and fun as they come.
