PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

Kenzo Takada opened his first flagship boutique in Paris in 1970, some 11 years before his Japanese contemporaries Rei Kawakubo and Yohji Yamamoto had secured their debut international shows. By the end of the ‘70s, Kenzo was the highest selling brand worldwide. His easily wearable, eye-catching and optimistic designs captured the zeitgeist like no other designer could. It would come as little as surprise then that international boutiques were keen to represent the ubiquitous Japanese designers' image.

Hailing from the Autumn/Winter 1985 collection, these pants were produced by Kenzo exclusively for Bergdorf Goodman, New York. Their traditional horse riding jodhpur silhouette was one synonymous with Kenzo at the time, and one that he would consistently return to for his runway presentations, both for men and women. Ruched at the waist and flared at the thighs, before dramatically tapering down to the ankle, Kenzo would often tuck them into boots or high socks to accentuate the distinct shape. Featuring an elastic drawstring waist, and an articulated vertical seam at the rear of each leg, the pants are both extremely comfortable and elegant. Their bright purple colour way and flowy nature are unmistakably Kenzo - ideal for trans-seasonal wear and equally androgynous.
