Junya Watanabe MAN AW2018 Hi-Vis Strip Jeans

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

Junya Watanabe MAN’s presentation for AW18 was heavily influenced by the utilitarian features of workwear. Drawing inspiration from the safety uniforms of labourers, Watanabe recontextualised his output into an urban setting. To reflect this, his models were styled as pedestrians and cyclists, whose clothes would provide them protection for their daily commute.

These particular reflective stripe jeans were showcased in look 29 on the runway, with several other iterations appearing across different looks. They are constructed from an extremely durable mid-weight raw indigo denim in a classic slim-straight cut.

The jeans feature fluorescent hi-vis panels in a grid like pattern on the lower legs and distinctive orange stitching throughout. They incorporate the traditional 5 pockets as well as bronze copper rivets at the pocket corners and belt loops at the waistband.

With seamless integration of utility and performance, Junya’s blending of the aesthetic and the functional delivered a collection that was masterclass in workwear.
