PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

Issey Miyake’s Spring/Summer 2002 womenswear presentation at Paris Fashion Week was a multiplicitous one. At its core, the collection centred around nature, recycling and the earth in which we inhabit. Colours were wide-ranging, with earthy hues and graphics featuring heavily - some abstract and others digitally printed. Accessories were prominent and made up of an assortment of plants, flowers and vines as though the models had walked through a dense trail before stepping out onto the runway - collecting flora on their way. These accessories extended from headpieces and necklaces to bracelets, belts and shoes.

Fabrics were textural, lightweight and at times raw. Many garments were cropped to expose skin while see-through fabrics were also popular, focusing on the body and human form. The collection featured less pleating than typically expected but Naoki Takizawa - like Issey Miyake before him - displayed clear experimentation with fabric and texture. Takizawa, himself, had a flower in his ear for his final bow at the end of the show.

The print on this skirt was one of the most notable in the collection, featuring across multiple looks in a variety of colours. This one, with a brown print - reminiscent of a dust cloud albeit digitally distorted - on a bright red cotton base. Mid-length, it finishes a bit below the knee and is completed with a sheer black trim at the hem. It features a front diagonal pleat giving it a layered, asymmetrical quality and is finished with a side zip and hidden button closure.
