Issey Miyake SS1998 Navy Pinstripe Crinkle Suit

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

From Issey Miyake's SS1998 runway show, this suit is an excellent example of 90s Issey Miyake tailoring. It has been garment dyed, giving it a broken-in feel, both in terms of the fabric and its wash.

The suit features a navy base with a white pinstripe and Miyake’s trademark subtle crinkling is consistent throughout. The blazer has two interior and three exterior pockets, while the pants also have two additional pockets at the rear. It is unlined and unstructured, giving it an easy-to-wear and lightweight feel. The garment dyeing process has left the suit pre-shrunk, meaning that it can be hand washed rather than dry cleaned. The silhouette is relaxed and ideal for summer.

Miyake’s architectural design approach, evidenced in his use of crinkling and pleating, gives his garments an instantly recognisable feel. Moreover, his techniques allow for ease of care and storage, as any excess crinkles simply become part of the design.
