Issey Miyake SS1992 Layered Palm Graphic Silk Blouse
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
The early 1990s marked Issey Miyake’s most groundbreaking period. His trademark pleating had already taken the world by storm, even prior to the official release of the Pleats Please line in 1994. His runway presentations were consistently at the forefront of experimentation and were colourful, celebratory events with catwalks often used as dance floors for models and professional dancers to display the unique sway of his designs.
For SS1992, Miyake paid homage to traditional Japanese culture with modern techniques. Much of the collection was transformable, and layers of material featured hidden elements.
Iterations of this rare and complex top featured in several looks. Constructed from 2 layers of semi sheer organza silk - the inner a form fitting singlet, the outer a loose long sleeve top - it can be worn several ways. Per the runway, one sleeve was worn on, with the other sleeve left hanging and the arm exposed. It features a leafy graphic, a tribute to the Japanese countryside, with polka dots sporadically throughout and is as lightweight as a cloud when worn.
