Issey Miyake Men SS2003 Embroidered Double Strip Long Sleeve
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
Issey Miyake’s Spring/Summer 2003 men’s collection - overseen by Naoki Takizawa - took inspiration from workwear and Americana. In what was an inherently wearable presentation, red accents and tribal prints featured alongside dressed down tailoring.
Opening looks heavily referenced Miyake’s AW1995 womenswear presentation, and in particular a chunky knit sweater that forms part of the qurated archive.
This long sleeve was seen in four back-to-back looks midway through the runway, during a musical segment where models paused on a chair to play the guitar or deliver a song. It was paired with a vest and round neck jacket, both worn open.
Constructed of a thick navy cotton base, the sleeves are accented with double stripes. Each feature a colourful embroidered tribal pattern. Darts cut in at both sides of the front body, while white stitching is visible above the split hem.
