PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

The theme for Issey Miyake’s Autumn/Winter 2014 show was “rythmatic forest”. Accordingly, the collection focused on organic shapes and patterns to mesmerizing effect. To achieve such a concept, the brand was once again at the forefront of technological innovation by way of their signature pleating. The technique du jour was ‘steam-stretching’ in which computers program steam heat to shrink jacquard fabrics into three-dimensional grooves.

The mechanical process yielded gorgeously organic fabrics, patterned like tree rings, which Miyamae cut into poetic shapes that shivered sensuously as the models walked.

This shawl featured in looks 34 and 37 of the show, with its features seen throughout, perfectly encapsulating the collections ethereal themes. It curves elegantly though abstractly, creating a voluminous sculptural silhouette that both contours to, and away from the body. Constructed from a uniquely sturdy but lightweight polyester blend in a rich deep blue, it can be folded and transformed to the preference of the wearer.
