PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

Throughout his career, Helmut Lang released a litany of variations on the classic denim jacket. The Austrian designer had an enduring fascination with American workwear and this iconic silhouette, and his innovative approach to denim has been regarded as the catalyst for its transformation from everyday workwear to covetable high fashion today. Originally showcased for S/S1997, Lang's signature two-pocket denim jacket was one of the brand's most popular casual pieces and was released every season until the early 2000s.

In one of its final forms, this jacket is from Lang’s Autumn/Winter 2002 collection and features a classic 2 pocket design, based on Levi's 557XX jacket from the early 1960's. Like the original, the jacket has a panelled torso construction with two chest pockets.

The denim has significant weight, giving structure to its tailored shape, while the cut is slightly cropped and fitted with high armholes, making the shoulders more defined. Fastening tabs are located at the rear to accommodate for a more fitted look if desired. Silver hardware is consistent on the body, pockets and sleeves and is engraved with 'Helmut Lang Jeans'. On the inside, flat-fell seams protect the interior from undesirable fraying while making the jacket indestructible.
