Look 34 of Helmut Lang’s era-defining AW99 runway show, known as Séance de Travail. This is an iconic example of Lang’s highly sought after hi-vis orange, dubbed “safety orange”.

Constructed from a soft and lightweight cotton knit that is wool-like in texture. It is slim and fitted. Versatile, it can be worn tucked in as seen on the runway, or easily layered with outerwear. Its beauty is in its simplicity and its colour. Typically minimalistic Helmut Lang.

Employed to emulate high visibility safety gear, “safety orange” was a strong motif throughout the show. 20 years on, it has remained a staple of the brand and has been the subject of several re-editions demonstrating its fundamental significance to Helmut Lang as we know it.
