Rei Kawakubo’s Autumn/Winter 2007 collection is certainly one of her most memorable after the turn of the century. Padded gloves, bows and flowers were appliquéd to unnatural textures and contrasting reds, pinks and lilacs. The jagged lumps of the garments were reminiscent of Kawakubo’s iconic Body Meets Dress, Dress Meets Body collection 10 years prior, and similarly referenced notions of femininity and adolescence. They were, and remain unmistakably COMME des GARÇONS.

The bow, one of the show’s most prominent graphics features here on this classic t-shirt. An easily wearable, though still highly recognisable piece from the collection, it is constructed from a lightweight cotton atop a subtle lilac base. Since its appearance in this collection, the bow graphic has remained a staple across several lines under the COMME des GARÇONS umbrella.
