COMME des GARÇONS AW2000 Deconstructed Back Panel Blazer

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

Rei Kawakubo’s AW2000 collection was entitled ‘Hard and Forceful’. A paean to punk, it was a far cry from her girlish frilly pink output the season before. The collection featured tartan, bondage style straps, and razor-blade graphics, intertwined amongst delicate and deconstructed tailoring.

This blazer was one of the key pieces from the collection; its features seen in several looks throughout. At the shoulder seam, the sleeve is partially detached, allowing for an unusual element of layering, whilst also creating a powerful streamlined silhouette. At the rear left, a panel of beautifully embroidered pink and white fabric softens the otherwise hard black base.

It is an excellent and exceptionally rare example of Kawakubo’s punk couture aesthetic.
