PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

Alexander McQueen’s SS09 collection was an all out allusion to 70’s disco. There were glimpses of bondage details as well as an overall focus on the male body. This, as ever, was evidenced by McQueen’s unwaveringly sharp tailoring. While other designers that year seemed to gravitate towards pyjama-like ease, McQueen, true to form, was running his own race.

This short sleeve shirt is an excellent example of the collections' themes. It features a buckle at the right shoulder which can be fastened slightly to accentuate the shoulders. This area is also complemented by subtle padding across the back. The shirt is constructed from a lightly waxed black cotton, that lends it slightly faded details on the collar and sleeves. As per the runway, the sleeves are extra short and the cut is very fitted so as to define the body.

Alexander McQueen’s chapter in fashion history is undoubtedly one of history's most compelling. He had an inherent ability to tell a compelling story through his clothes, as well as immense eye for tailoring. He was awarded British Designer of the Year in 1996, 1997, 2001 and 2003, as well as International Designer of the Year in 2003. He passed away in 2010.
