Alexander McQueen x PUMA AW2007 Zip Contour Sneakers

• From the fourth collection of McQueen’s collaboration with PUMA that began in Spring/Summer 2006.

• Titled “London Running Chain” sneakers, they featured in the AW2007 collaborative launch video.

• The essence of the collaboration was “mixing the theatrical world of McQueen and the rigidity of PUMA’s Performance engineering,” according to then PUMA creative director, Darryl Matthews.

• For McQueen, the partnership focused on creating a “totally unique product”; and making fashionable sportswear, rather than trying to turn sportswear into something fashionable

• Early designs were inspired by human anatomy and were renowned for their futuristic, highly technical construction.

• Similar pointed toe footwear appeared on the runway that season, in McQueen’s ‘In Memory of Elizabeth Howe, Salem, 1692’ collection.

• Silver zips contour their way around the shoe

• Skeletal cage design on a gum sole
