Raf Simons SS15 Blue Perforated Singlet
Worn on the runway for Raf Simons’ SS2015 show.
Exploring themes of nature, the show's atmosphere was “febrile” according to Tim Blanks of Vogue. Music was sourced from Jonathon Glazer’s film 'Under the Skin', and harsh white lights and shadowing made the audience stand upright.
Made from polyester, this singlet is lightweight and feels like a piece of recycled material, with perforated holes and clean seams running down either side of the electric blue body. The material's texture is akin to a padded cleaning cloth, while the navy collar was sewn on from another garment entirely. Many of the pieces from the collection consisted of collars and necks with recycled prints. Raf said of these images, that they portray important fragments of his personal history, as abstract as a feeling or a scent, or in more tangible cases, an image of Mt. Fuji or an astronaut.
Somewhat of a miscellaneous and rare item, its stretchy nature makes it versatile and easily wearable.
