COMME des GARÇONS HOMME 1980's Cuffed Coat
This coat hails from the early 1980's, only a few years after the initial Homme line was founded in 1978 and several years prior to Homme Plus.
It is constructed from a heavy dark grey cotton that has faded subtly and beautifully. Largely unstructured and seamless, the coat drapes elegantly when worn, accentuated by the typically oversized and relaxed silhouette that characterized much of Rei Kawakubo's early work for men. In conjunction with the unusual lack of venting at the rear, the coat takes on a distinctly sculptural finish.
Notably, it features elastic cuffs on the sleeves that cinch the garment perfectly at the wrist, whilst also allowing the wearer to easily roll up their sleeves at a moments notice. A three button closure as well as a subtle high lapel give the coat a somewhat tailored look on an otherwise effortlessly simple piece.
