COMME des GARÇONS HOMME PLUS SS08 Cobalt Blue Short Sleeve Shirt
The theme of Comme des Garçons Homme Plus' SS2008 show was “superimposition”. That is, layering pieces one over another such that all are on display. Kawakubo first hinted at this notion with her invitations that included three identical sheets of directions to the same location. During the presentation, jackets and shirts were layered three on one, all with varying lengths and shapes.
This particular shirt was look 34 on the runway, and its cobalt blue colourway featured heavily. The shirt's unusual mid-length sleeve affords it the ability to be worn layered over several other garments. Even more interesting, is the fact that it has oversized french cuffs and was worn with white cufflinks on the runway.
The shirt is extremely versatile and can be worn as is, as an overshirt or as a jacket. The cut is slightly fitted but loose enough to be layered as intended.
